Summary:

This key role within the Supplier and Category Management Dept., will negotiate commercial terms and develop vital and complex relationships with existing OEM suppliers. Products include: antibodies, proteins and other related product types, including kits.

The Supplier Manager will also establish relationships with new OEM suppliers, including agreements with university technology transfer offices to license hybridomas for antibody production.

Core Responsibilities:

Foster excellent relationships and partner with all internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure smooth, effective business relationships.
Develop a strategy to identify and track progress with potential new suppliers. Assess potential new commercial deals to identify those that are best able to meet objectives.
Negotiate all contractual terms to achieve the best possible deal. This includes drafting all contract clauses.
Develop long-term pricing structures to maintain unit costs, maintain the supply security of key, top selling products and deliver growth expectations for the supplier.
Independently create and implement 2-year strategies for each key supplier, including establishing objectives. Monitor progress and respond appropriately to unsuccessful strategies.
Manage relationships with suppliers, and creatively and effectively solve problems when they crop up.
Regularly meet with supplier to discuss business progress by attending conferences, visiting supplier's facilities and hosting supplier visits, as well as by conducting regular telephone conference calls involving multiple attendees. Produce comprehensive meeting notes to record actions and required follow-ups.
Manage OEM supplier relationships to ensure and secure a long term pipeline of new antibodies and proteins suitable for addition to the catalogue (and meeting the company cherry picking criteria) to meet team objectives
Suggest new product types for addition to the catalogue and collect information from suppliers on possible new products and technologies that may be of interest to grow business. Work closely with the Product Managers to source the required new product types quickly to meet company objectives.
Ensure that all suppliers comply with SDS, Hazards, shipping and handling requirements, ethics and HTA policies.
Work with the Accounts and Supply Chain teams to ensure efficient levels of stock of OEM products are held in each office.
Collect competitor intelligence and circulate as appropriate.
Prepare regular presentations at company meetings.
Work with OEM suppliers to maintain product quality standards. Align OEM quality standards with in-house standards and ensure that OEM suppliers comply. Work closely with suppliers to ensure long-term compliance and assist the Scientific Support team to investigate and resolve any product quality issues.
Travel to UK office regularly to coincide with project and team requirements.

Professional Requirements:

2 years of Commercial experience in Life Sciences
One or more years of biological research, highly desired
Strong background in negotiating contracts
Demonstrated history building and growing effective and lasting business relationships
Must possess outstanding problem solving skills
Must display great organizational skills
Highly-effective communication and presentation skills: able to influence decisions
Should have above-average MS Office skills, particularly with MS Excel

Educational Requirements:

Masters degree in biology or related-field
