My client is a leading European Financial Service company, they have a large presence in Asset Management and a strong track record of hiring and extending good contractors!
The Role:
The role sits within the Production Integration team who:
- Deploy Applications within test, pre-production and production environments
- Implement operation scripts, procedures and tools
- Analyze the impacts of a new/modified application on the production environments
The main part of the job involved:
- Deployment and configuration of Windows applications for the test, pre-production and production environments (automated & manual), liaising with the developers, testers and infrastructure experts.
- Validation of operational documentation
- Creation of validation procedure and operation scripts to automate deployment of Windows applications
- Review architecture of the applications and ensure they can be released into production
Required skills:
A background in development on Windows Server is essential though you do not have to be a System Engineer.
- Windows Server (2000, 2003, 2008)
- Visual Basic (VB6 and VB.NET)
- SQL Server )
- Scripting (VBS and PERL)
Desirable skills:
ASP.NET, MS Internet Information Server
Some understanding of security & architecture
