Charitable Contributions Auditor

Scope of the project:

Validating that proper supporting documentation has been received for charitable contributions made to non-profit organizations.

Responsibilities:

Works independently to review and validate documentation associated with charitable contributions made to non-profit organizations.

References transactions within a contributions database (MicroEdge GIFTS) and verifies documents uploaded by nine regional offices.

Tests compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures.

Identifies and summarizes exceptions and presents findings to regional staff and Community Benefit leaders.

Follows up on ensuring resolution of identified issues.
Assist Financial Analyst in preparation of year-end financial statements and supporting schedules.
Compile charitable contribution data into Excel summaries to support annual tax returns.  

Perform other tasks as time and schedule permits.

Read, Interpret, and Ensure Compliance with Policies

Organize and Summarize Data

Communicate with Regional Personnel

Reconcile Activity Between Source System and General Ledger

Requirements:

This individual should understand general compliance, testing and remediation concepts and have a working knowledge of SOX implications, internal controls, etc.

An aptitude for quickly understanding functional business processes and general ledger reconciliations is essential.

This position requires a highly detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who's able to manage multiple priorities.

BA or BS required

CPA, CIA or CISA certification highly desirable

Minimum of 3+ years of audit-related experience.
Prior Audit Experience

Excellent Technology Skills (especially in Excel and Access)

Ability to Quickly Understand Business Processes, Policies, and Reconciliations

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (ie Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
Data analysis skills preferred (ie pivot tables and development of simple data queries)
Background with internal audit or compliance department or accounting firm preferred
Highly detail-oriented with good organizational skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Ability to analyze data and summarize findings succinctly
Ability to multi-task, manage workload, and meet dead
