About the role:
As a Senior UX/Visual Designer, you'll be deeply involved in early concepting, product strategy, research, design, and helping to make key user-focused decisions throughout the life of a project. This is a high-level position with a range of responsibilities. However, your primary responsibilities are to own the user experience/design on projects assigned to you. You are to achieve this through well-researched and thought-out flows, documented site/product UI structure, and designing beautiful modern interfaces.
Responsibilities:
• Design flows and experiences across multiple devices and platforms that are incredibly simple, elegant, and consistent, while remaining platform-appropriate
• Use research, flows, IA, wireframes, prototypes, etc. to work out and validate designs
• Create visual style guides, UI elements, and design mocks
• Follow client brand guidelines when necessary
• Branding / identity design
• Work with clients, project managers, and developers to bring concepts from idea to final product
• Iterate and improve features and products based on testing and ongoing business needs
• Source and manage freelance designers for overflow of work when necessary
Requirements:
• At least 2 years of experience working at an agency
• A smart and eye-popping portfolio of work, showing wireframes and final visual design (showing your entire process would be a plus)
• A solid understanding of responsive design for different screens (handset, tablet, desktop, etc.)
• Visual design fundamentals; well-versed in typographic and UI principles; color theory and brand communication
• See value in illustration, art, and design as a vessel for bold, clear communication
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and/or other design and prototyping tools
• Proficient in at least one wireframing tool (Omnigraffle, InDesign, etc.)
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and communicate your vision and design decisions both internally and to clients
• Have opinions about good and bad design and the ability to justify them
• Up to speed on the latest web design technologies, trends and techniques
• Be able to anticipate client needs and fulfill them
• Be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Know some HTML and CSS, or at least understand the concepts
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, but also know when to ask for help and take direction
• Ability to collaborate with poise and integrity
Nice-to-haves:
• You can put together basic prototypes with HTML/CSS/JS
• Motion design skills to explore UI approaches and solutions
• Good writing and editorial skills
