Link Technologies is currently seeking a Sr. Programming Analyst for our client in Las Vegas, NV.

Under direction, the Sr. Programming Analyst provides analytical and programming support to professional and technical staff; designs applications systems and modifications, and performs programming in support of schools and administrative services for multiple computer platform applications.

ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION (Illustrative, not inclusive)

  • Conducts feasibility studies and develops system, time, equipment, and cost requirements.
  • Simulates hardware and software problems, tests and evaluates alternative solutions, and recommends and Implements appropriate applications designs utilizing computer generated techniques.
  • Develops program logic and processing steps; codes programs in varied languages.
  • Plans and develops test data to validate new or modified programs; designs input and output forms and documents.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, as needed for client staff, other agencies and Information systems personnel.
  • Writes program documentation, customer procedures, and instructions and assists client users and staff in implementing new or modified programs and applications; tracks and evaluates project and systems progress.
  • Writes utility programs to support and validate adopted systems and programs. Confers with department staff regarding assigned functional program areas.
  • Ensures user acceptance by soliciting their involvement on designs, functionality, and testing; maintains communications with end-users to ensure systems continually meet user expectation. Maintains records and prepares periodic and special reports of work performed.
  • Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
  • Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of system analysis and design procedures and techniques.
  • Knowledge of IBM Mainframe & Sun.
  • Knowledge of computer programming principles, techniques and procedures for school/department applications.
  • Knowledge and skill with JCL, Cobol, DB2, Oracle.
  • Knowledge of batch and on-line techniques, form and document design techniques.
  • Knowledge and skill in job planning, prioritizing, and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, statistical, business administrative, and office procedures.
  • Ability to analyze systems and problems, and develop new or modified programs to meet customer school/department needs.
  • Ability to analyze system requirements, and select appropriate hardware and software for system design.
  • Ability to develop logical procedures, coding their steps into programming instructions, and develop tests to validate program design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and debug programs and applications.
  • Ability to learn operating principles and characteristics of various computers and associated computer hardware such as utilized by the client.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise program documentation, user procedures, reports of work performed, and other written material; assists in developing training materials/programs.
  • Ability to install and use various PC application software packages.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Ability to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to schools/departments by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of technology and new computer user applications.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet predetermined deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with district staff, vendors, and other agencies. Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, (ie, mathematics, computer science, management information systems), and two (2) years of professional experience in systems analysis and the development of large computer applications using various high-level programming languages; or, Associate's degree in a related field, (ie, mathematics, computer science, management information systems), and four (4) years of professional experience in systems analysis and the development of large computer applications using various high-level programming languages; or, High school graduation or other equivalent (ie, GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.); and six (6) years of experience (as outlined above} will meet the college and professional experience.
