In this role, you would be responsible for the design and development of optimal engineering solutions for cost-effective lean manufacturing processes or other schema. Engaged in research and development for equipment, processes, procedures and systems integration. Perform validation activities as necessary in a clean-room manufacturing environment. Recommends improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Supports and may manage manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Essential Functions Include
  • Performs research, analysis, design and development of lean manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment for new and existing projects.
  • Assist with process design changes
  • Conducts research and upgrades development of equipment design, tooling design and manufacturing procedures and new production technologies and methods.
  • Modify equipment and process control system software to support manufacturing.
  • Support Manufacturing and Production staff to solve technical, quality and production problems to ensure consistent product flow, and make recommendations to senior staff and/or managers to improve production processes.
  • Qualification, optimization, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with senior staff members and other departments and assist in directing others to effectively transfer projects from development to production and to effectively implement process improvements.
  • Develop project plans and schedules and execute for small to medium size project with minimal supervision.
  • Work with senior staff members and other functions to integrate various systems. Systems include manufacturing layout, facilities layout, material flow, equipment arrangement, application of available resources and reduction of waste in all its forms.
  • Draft and execute test plans and protocols with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions and process improvements
  • Recommend design changes to tooling/fixtures/production layouts or other changes that result in safety or efficiency improvements.
  • Utilize and employ statistical methods to support process improvements and validations.
  • Create and maintain quality system documentation as required by the established Quality System and the Quality System Standards (e.g. ISO, QSR, etc).
  • Help maintain and improve Quality System including the creation, review, and implementation of documents to ensure establishment of proper records.
  • Interact with vendors, on occasion, to gather process or related product design information to solve production problems as directed or assist with engineering services proposals.
  • Will be responsible for initiating and documenting lean methods to reduce waste and complexity in new or existing processes.
  • Act as integral member of the Engineering group, in support of the defined Engineering and company mission, vision, values and goals.
  • Share professionally related talents with colleagues or staff within the company.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities that are reasonably assigned from time to time by the employer or its designated representative.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or any relevant technical or science degree, or equivalent experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, resource management, systems integration and production equipment principles and application.
  • Strong written and spoken communication in the English language.
  • Able to learn and understand mechatronics, manufacturing, and value stream mapping.
  • Able to perform math functions, including statistical analysis. Should have a clear understanding of tolerancing requirements in various design applications.
  • Able to use lean manufacturing tools and have a solid understanding of lean principles.
  • Demonstrated track record of sustainable improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, creative thinking and abstract reasoning skills.
  • Ability to use a solid modeling program such as Solidworks or ProE a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic understanding of materials with silicone molding and sheeting background.
  • Ability to operate measuring devices
  • Ability to maintain a professional and respectful relationship with coworkers and company representatives.
