ERP OPERATIONS MANAGER

Purpose The ERP Operations Manager is the guardian of large business critical SAP infrastructure, accountable for planning, directing, controlling and takes responsibility for providing maximum system availability for all users. This involves the resolution of all day-to-day SAP technical issues, technical governance, technical quality assurance, system security; SOX and key controls compliance as well as system build and landscape management. Leads a team of some 30 staff and managing the services delivered by ISPs.

Accountabilities General

- Plans, directs and coordinates the end-to-end SAP operations, covering Global instances as well as in several local instances.

- Liaison and direct/influence as necessary, with technical teams in the Operating Units responsible for management of step-out system landscapes to maintain architectural alignment across all systems in the landscapes.

- Maintains a good knowledge of current best practice and awareness of current developments within own area(s) of expertise.

- Develop/Improve/Evergreen operational process and procedure for various system related activity like DRP, System Refresh, System startup/shutdown and other Standard Operating Procedures.

- Responsible for infrastructure operation budget management for SAP services.

- Operate SOX relevant controls to ensure compliance and recommends appropriate action to remediate risks

- Report on the operational performance of the technical infrastructure.

- Take responsibility for Incident, Problem, Change (incl. maintenance) and escalation management

- Identify and execute improvement opportunities to increase reliability, availability and/or reduce unit operating cost

- Lead, coach and develop staff to perform as respected professional in a high performing, collaborative team

Technical Operational Support

- Monitors technical progress of technical changes and alignment with operational standards, informing management of major technical issues and making recommendations on their resolution.

Technical Architecture support

- Support technical architecture initiatives, analysis, design, and implementation, and ensure that the solution fulfills the requirements. Support the future-state architecture together with hosting organizations/ISP ensuring that it meets the business requirements and performance goals and that the technical direction is consistent with the group long-term direction.

- Review and integrate the technical architecture requirements for the development, execution, and operations environments. Consult with customers on decisions regarding hardware, network products, system software, and security.

- Develops proposals for technical solutions. This includes ability to demonstrate business value, business impact and costs assessment of solutions proposed.

- Review technical architecture deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and requirement traceability.

Technical Quality assurance

- Provide advises on appropriate quality criteria, and the conduct of quality reviews of technical products. Attends quality reviews (whenever appropriate) and ensures the adequacy and effective use of quality control procedures.

- Advises on the impact of technical exceptions (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc), and ensures that there is proper technical assessment of all exceptions. Provides advice on avoidance, containment and recovery actions.

- Provides advice on the preparation of outline and detailed technical plans and cooperates with business assurance and project office staff to ensure that appropriate technical resources are allocated.

Service Assurance

- Provide Technical Expert support in critical incident escalation call with ISP.

- Provides advice to service delivery and account manager on the selection of appropriate technical strategies, policies, standards, methods and tools for systems development (ie step-out systems alignment strategy). Promulgates such advice to project teams by means of presentations and written standards and guidelines, as appropriate

- Ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly

- Represent business in infrastructure capacity management processes with hosting organization/ISP.

- Escalation focal point regarding service quality provided by ISP.

Dimensions - The systems landscape is used globally 24/7 with a large number of integrated and dependent systems and global services, resulting in a high level of complexity.

- An additional high level of complexity in the landscape is introduced by two landscapes that have been implemented as a step out from the single instance landscape principle, where each change is to be identically replicated across all systems.

- Due to the high number of users (25,000+) and business processes the business criticality is very high..
