Nomura International currently seek a Technical Operator to join an offsite global team situation in Nomura's Data and Disaster Recovery Centre based in St Paul's which is primarily a support organization with an operational focus on proactive monitoring to reduce impact to service and call out to second line specialist support and engineering teams. Through proactive monitoring you and the team provide global visibility over the IT infrastructure and are able to address issues prior to production impact as well as provide efficient escalation and incident and problem management tracking. Candidates will be involved in a shift rota, which will be split into 12 hours shifts covering 27/7 operations

Key objectives critical to success:

  • 1st line support globally for all infrastructure related events
  • Operational support for wide and local area networks
  • Operational support of the Middleware, RMDS, Wombat and Direct Market Access Infrastructure
  • Administration support of the Back End windows, Linux and Unix platforms
  • Incident, Problem and Change Management - Assisting the Shift Manager in his/her role as required:
  • Co-ordinating and reporting on all infrastructure incidents and high impacting incidents globally
  • Providing on-going analysis, tracking and reporting on post mortem events
  • Change Management for all European based changes and co-ordinating all overnight and weekend changes.
  • Datacentre Management
  • Policing and reporting on any issues with the Datacenter space, power and cooling systems
  • Maintaining strict access control of the Datacentre
  • Using Datacentre management tools to assist with technical planning for equipment decommissioning, movement and deployment

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Some experience of a dynamic operations environment, but not essential.
  • Candidates should a sound background in IT either via experience or higher level education.
  • A flexible attitude and a willingness to learn new skills and ability to deal with tight deadlines are essential.

Desirable

  • IT literate with a a solid background in generic Microsoft Office tool suite.
  • Some low level database and web design knowledge an advantage.

Successful candidates will be engaged under a contract for services by Resource Solutions.
