Description
Summary:
As a Compute Engineer you will have individual experience in a variety of Commercial Data Center level environments focusing on VMware, Hitachi, HP Compute (C-Class Bladesystem, DL Servers), or Cisco UCS. The position offers you the ability to have your hand in a variety of cutting edge technologies while being the primary contact for escalated support issues including Severity 1 incidents. Furthermore, you will be focused on converged solutions that require cross-functional skill sets.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This person will need to work closely and cohesively with the Network Engineering team(s) as well as the Application Development team(s) to troubleshoot and further develop solutions and products
Tier 3 business hours reactive activities as an escalation point in an established operations hierarchy with an on-call rotation
Own the escalation resolution event, regardless of severity escalated, through to resolution
Participate in all aspects of the virtual infrastructure (Data Center) provisioning such as Network, Storage, CMDB, monitoring, backup, capacity planning, and proactive/reactive solutions
Provides timely updates to the project manager and customer when requested
Contribute to planning efforts for future based project activities.
Provides recommendations to the Senior Compute Engineer on people process and tools that could enhance service offering
Requirements:
3+ year of experience of adhering to ITIL/ETOM processes
5+ year of relevant technology experience in datacenter compute
Deep technical skill set in several DC Compute and/or Storage technologies
You must have at least one major technology specialty (Hitachi Storage, HP Blades, DataDomain, VMware Virtualization (vSphere 4.x, 5.x), Cisco UCS and Datacenter Switching)
