My client, a market leading global financial services institution is looking for a Global IT Category manager to join their team on 6 month rolling contract.Rate: £750-£850 per day

THE ROLE HOLDER WILL COME FROM A BANKING/ FINANCIAL SERVICES BACKGROUND AND HAVE OPERATED WITHIN A GLOBAL ROLE FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS.

THE ROLE:
The Global Procurement Category Manager will act as the lead specialist for all Procurement activities in a specific category across the Group. The role will allow a specialist commercial focus to be applied to the largest categories of expenditure with the Bank's third party suppliers. By aggregating and co-ordinating expenditure across the Group, working closely with senior business users, and negotiating innovative and aggressive commercial terms at a global level, the role will consistently deliver value to the business.
The job holder will act as the ultimate subject matter expert and strategy owner for Procurement activities related to the specific Category and will ensure alignment of plans across the various commodities within the Category. The job holder will also be responsible for ensuring the assigned global savings target for the Category is achieved.
The close relationship with senior stakeholders around the world will be key to influencing procurement decisions. It is particularly important that local purchasing teams and the local offices of Global Vendors 'buy in' to Global Agreements.
The jobholder must develop, enhance and manage global discount and rebate programmes with category Vendors.
Introducing cultural change will be a major challenge particularly in areas not currently 'on side' with professional purchasing standards.
Some vendors will also be major corporate customers and reciprocal trading issues will require careful management.
