We require a SCOM/VMWare Infrastructure Engineer for a 6 month contract role based on a client site in London to start asap.
Essential skills/experience required:
MS SCOM MCSE Exam 70-400 or equivalent experience
Microsoft MCTS or MCITP or equivalent experience
Experience of authoring and managing SCOM Management Packs
VMware Vsphere (version 4 and upwards)
Vmware Labmanager (version 4)
Vmware Vcloud Director (version 5.1 and upward)
Windows Server 2008 (specifically including Core edition)
Windows Server 2012
F5 load balancers
Experience in working in fast paced/changing T&D environments
Role:
The Infrastructure Engineer is a member of the IM Infrastructure team and is jointly accountable for meeting the team's overall objectives and leading the drive within IM to deliver customer satisfaction across all IM services. The role plays a key technical role in the day to day delivery of the functional service area (BAU Operations, Proactive Estate Management, and Change Delivery). You will be expected to rotate between teams which focus on specific activities.
You will also be accountable for the technical ownership of the management, investigation and resolution of Incidents of the supported services in order to maximise system availability for critical business services in accordance with the agreed service levels.
To deliver a supportable estate including software patching and the upgrading/replacement of hardware when deemed end of life to ensure the availability of the Client's Business Operational services mitigating potential service risk which could result in loss of service.
You will be accountable for the development and implementation of service improvements in order to improve the value delivered to the Client's operational business, implementing such changes that may deliver financial efficiencies, enhanced performance and service stability.
This role provides business-critical support and therefore, you may be required to undertake one or more of the following, as agreed with the line manager: Work additional hours at short notice; work an off-set working day that enables extended hours coverage; and provide on-call cover on a 24 x 7 basis
