Job Purpose:
Systems Electronics Engineer for CW systems and OEM lasers responsible for the development of novel laser architectures including detail systems and electronics specification and design. Engineering involvement will include full product lifecycle from design and development, prototyping, verification and validation and transfer to manufacture

Duties and Responsibilities:
Working in a multidisciplinary team as Systems Electronics Engineer providing electronics system solutions for the full portfolio of products
Liaison with product marketing in the early definition stages of design and to interact with customers as required
Development of electronics hardware including pump driver, interface circuitry and power supplies for systems and OEM products
Derivation of specifications for software, hardware and power supplies for either internal our out-source development
Verification and validation of new designs to demonstrate world class reliability and to ensure compliance to appropriate standards
Support the derivation of next generation system architectures to maintain a leading edge in system design and costs competitiveness

Skills & Experience:

Essential:
3 to 5 years industrial experience with a proven track record of bringing complex electronics system. development projects to successful fruition
Delivering projects to time, cost and quality deadlines within a matrix development organization
Experience of working ideally with Lasers or Systems, within a component and/or integrator environment
Experienced in hardware, power supply, software and firmware specification and design leadership
Good I.T. skills

Preferable:
Familiarity with Fiber Optic or Laser based products
Familiar with both European and North American regulatory approval processes
Demonstrable design compliance with appropriate safety and EMC standards
Experience in managing outsourced packages of work with external partners/vendors

Qualifications:
Minimum 2.1 in a relevant Bachelor degree in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering
Preferably educated to Masters or higher level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

Demonstrated perseverance and drive, e.g. in bringing a development project to commercial market success or through running own software company
Team player with natural leadership skills
Ability to work across multiple tasks methodically and efficiently and meet committed timescales
Happy to work in a dynamic environment and adaptable to changes in priorities
Proactive approach to supporting the needs of a large multi-disciplinary development team
Hands-on with creative and practical approach to problem solving and the ability to translate engineering requests into working solutions
Ability to identify and use reference material to help execute tasks
Ability to understand and influence complex processes
Innovative and proactive self-starter
