Specific Accountabilities
  • Provide project management and leadership to multiple multi-functional project teams.
  • Develop fully integrated project plans and schedules that clearly identify the critical path.
  • Track and monitor project activities and milestones while maintaining project schedules; communicate variances; prepare and present updates to the Project Team and management when appropriate.
  • When appropriate, track and monitor the project budget and variance.
  • Schedule, conduct, and facilitate team meetings; record project team meeting minutes and ensure clarity on decisions, deliverables, action items, and timelines.
  • Direct project communications and ensure that all project stakeholders are fully informed and knowledgeable about project plans, goals, status, and decisions.
  • Collaborate with Finance to support the annual budget process and provide project data to ensure that the budget matches the project goals.
  • Ensure that information is communicated within the project teams and to functional management.
  • Ensure that any corporate policies and processes are implemented at the project team level.


Key Relationships

The Project Manager must excel in building relationships and collaborating successfully with a wide range of stakeholders involved in each project.
  • Project Team Leader (PTL): The Project Manager must build an effective partnership with the PTL that clearly reflects how the accountabilities are shared between the two individuals and that optimally leverages the skills of each person.
  • Project Team Members: The Project Manager must successfully interact with team members to clarify core team accountabilities to achieve project team goals. The Project Manager must model leadership and project management skills and provide constructive feedback to core team members.
  • Line Function Managers: The Project Manager must be able to negotiate successfully with functions to resolve conflicts between the team and line function needs. The Project Manager will leverage the technical expertise of the line function managers as necessary.
  • Project Management Department: The Project Manager must be able to collaborate with his/her peers to identify and implement processes and tools to make teams and the PM department itself more effective, share lessons learned and best practices, and participate in mutual coaching and performance feedback.
