Subcontract & Procurement Officer

Location: Guildford

Duration: 8 months

Rate: £300 per day (dependent on experience)

Clearance: BPSS (or willing to undergo)

Our client is looking for a Subcontract and Procurement Officer to support and assist the procurement activity and follow on subcontract management of defined areas. The successful Subcontract and Procurement Officer will also be capable of delivering an optimised service, quality and cost offering to the customers of procurement (both internal and externally facing) and sustainable service excellence through demonstrable customer satisfaction. The role of Subcontract and Procurement Officer will also include assisting in the management of all subcontract construction, negotiation, implementation and on-going monitoring of performance against defined targets of performance, cost and delivery.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting subcontract shaping and negotiations of subcontracts as part of bid team
  • Reporting on all subcontract activities in support of bids/projects through the life cycle
  • Assisting in regular reviews with subcontractors to address schedule/technical compliance
  • Providing regular update reports to relevant project and senior management
  • Helping in the delivery improvements in overall value (quality/cost/delivery/performance) from supplier base
  • Supporting senior managers in identifying, assessing and managing subcontracted risk in support of associated bids/projects
  • Providing support on vendor assessments and identifying opportunities to develop supply base
  • Assisting in the review and development of business processes as required
  • Ensuring maintenance of appropriate records and subcontract data for monthly management reports as required
  • Maintaining effective communications and developing appropriate relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing appropriate relationships with the supplier base where necessary
  • Adhering to safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Maintenance of working practises and environment consistent with Company and Legislative safety and environmental requirements
  • Undertaking of reasonable tasks as required
  • Supporting, as required, the establishment of commercial subcontract processes and procedures scaled to support the growing business
  • Providing subcontract commercial advice and support to bid and project teams as required

Essential skills:

  • Prior experience of supporting subcontract management
  • Proven experience in procurement and subcontract roles within an IT environment
  • Ability to assist in establishing and managing subcontracts in managed services projects
