A 6 month contract for a NV1/NV2 cleared candidate as a Senior Applications Specialist (level 3 Desktop)

The Senior Application Specialist will service Desktop and SOE related projects. To review and deploy changes to improve the desktop environments. The Senior Application Specialist role requires a strong understanding of centralised application and operating system delivery, Application Management and Virtualisation technologies. This role will be in the centralised support team managing the desktop fleet.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement improvements to the desktop environment
  • Create and maintain work instructions, system documentation and standard operating procedures for supported systems
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff
  • Participate in Major incident and complex problem management

Experience:

  • Proven in-depth knowledge of a specific technical specialism including one or more of the below technologies:
  • Microsoft operating systems XP, Windows 7, Server 2003 Server 2012
  • Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and Provisioning Services
  • AppSense Application and Profile Manager
  • Virtualization platforms, ESXi, XenServer and Hyper-V
  • Lumension Device Control
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience and/or Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) desirable
  • Certification in Citrix, Microsoft or AppSense highly desirable
  • History of working in a large, multi vendor ICT organisation, beneficial.
