Job DescriptionThe primary role of the Documentation Controller is to manage documentation during engineering, commissioning, start-up and operation of facilities and pipelines. This position will support multiple projects, operations, and maintenance within a US Onshore asset. A secondary role is facilitation of MOC requests through the Management of Change (MOC) process and ensuring updates of documentation as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Interface with vendors to ensure drawings, documents, databases, 3-D models, etc. are created according to Statoil documentation requirements
- Assist with correct usage of Engineering Numbering System for classification and name giving for equipment, technical documents and drawings
- Provide evaluation of the documentation system and assistance as is necessary to support ongoing operation and activities
- Collaborate closely with project team to develop and implement documentation strategies and plans for projects including the design and coordination of project proposal
- Ensure that all activities are managed efficiently, effectively and productively and in accordance with Statoil's procedures, guidelines and requirements
- Provide advice, recommendations and direction with respect to the design, testing and implementation of systems in support of engineering, commissioning and start-up activities for projects
- Follow up on compliance with requirements related to documentation deliverables from internal and external practitioners
- Initiate and monitor improvements in work processes, technical requirements and tools within the documentation system
- Participate in training of internal and external personnel within documentation requirements, systems and work processes
- Enter documentation into web based management system and ensure documentation is complete for each component (vessels, instrumentation, line pipe, etc.)
- Assign document numbers, perform version control, and manage/organize electronic documentation for all projects
- Facilitate movement of MOC requests through the MOC process (ensuring appropriate approval chain and timely responses)
- Ensure documentation is updated as needed upon close out of MOCs
Minimum Education :
- Bachelor degree in a technical discipline or equivalent job experience
Basic Skills & Experience Requirements
- Strong communication, follow-up, and organization skills
- Must display an exceptional level of business, people and written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical aptitudes
- Experience from development projects or operations and maintenance is preferred
- Good knowledge within technical documentation for a refinery or oil plant
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of technical information systems
- Good general IT skills
- Must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and set a good example to all other workers
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member
- Ability to work under urgent and demanding situations
