Description
Our client based in Berkshire is looking for an estimator to join their team and deliver the estimating capability within engineering projects.
Key accountabilities
*For ensuring delivery of Safety, Quality, Environmental, Security & Health (SQUESH)performance in accordance with the requirements of policy and SQESH management systems
*To implement best practice estimating policy, processes and procedures on projects
*To understand the cost estimates and cost plans within levels of certainty which allow effective monitoring, forecasting and control of financial limits for projects and recommend changes if required
*For monitoring and assessing the development and status of technical information and documentation against the cost plan, forecasting anticipated difficulties and providing proposals for their resolution
*To assist with value engineering assessments and evaluating results as part of the project process
*To work with both the Risk and Planning teams to provide estimating input into risk assessments and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
*To respond to customer feedback on estimating performance
*To develop and promote with others in the estimating community Best Practice processes, procedures, tools and techniques and mechanisms for their practical application
Responsibilities
*Ensure Compliance with Company Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health procedures.
*Able to promote a positive Health and Safety culture.
Qualifications
*Educated to HNC/HND/Degree level
Knowledge
*Knowledge of 3 point estimating (3PE) techniques and confidence modelling
*Estimating of major capital projects
*Estimating of refurbishment projects
Experience
*Demonstrable relevant estimating experience in both major and minor projects
*The highest degree of professional application in the estimating discipline and working relationships commensurate with the ethics of the profession
Skills
*To be able to prepare detailed, parametric (3PE) estimates utilising norms and benchmark data.
*To understand the technical aspects of the project and challenge the scope if required.
*To ensure that estimating policies, processes and procedures are adhered too on all projects.
*For providing cost estimates and cost plans within levels of certainty which allow effective monitoring, forecasting and control of financial limits for projects
*To be able to monitor and assess the development and status of technical information and documentation against the cost plan, forecasting anticipated difficulties and providing proposals for their resolution
*To provide estimating input to the project team with regard value engineering assessments and evaluating results as part of the project process
*Providing estimating support to risk assessments and mitigation actions
*Review estimate feedback and make the necessary adjustments
