Description
Role Title: System Verification Engineer
Role Purpose:
The Weapon System Architecture and Equipment function delivers critical elements of Surface Attack Weapon Systems. The function is deploying an initiative to standardise the approach to architecting these systems, through a Generic System Architecture and 'Product Line' process with a view to reducing development timescales and associated cost. This strategy is being adopted by new and existing projects alike, with Mission Planning & Control being a leading department responsible for delivering elements of the Weapon System from initial design through development to delivery to the customer, to extremely high quality standards. We are also responsible for ensuring a consistent, internationally agreed approach to the design by working across the company to agree architecture, design templates and implementation methods.
We are looking for highly capable, versatile and enthusiastic System Architects and Engineers to work proactively within the team across a number of international programmes and company funded research activities.
Type of Activities
- Definition of the Test Equipment architecture, its logical design and the key design decisions and characteristics. Alignment with existing products and identification of capability gaps.
- Development and maintenance of project-specific verification models derived from Product Line system (SysML) models, adopting the product line design patterns and processes. (SysML/UML - preferably Rhapsody)
- Liaison with the Test Equipment Design and Implementation team to coordinate the onward development of the verification architecture.
- Development of Design Verification Plans and Trials Proving Instructions.
- Work with the Integration and Systems Validation Team to coordinate sub-system verification interaction with system level verification activities.
- Development of processes and procedures to support the Architecture definition. This includes configuration control, requirements management, validation/verification strategies, baseline definition, etc.
- General Systems Engineering studies and investigations to support Architecture definition, including trade-off analysis.
- Manage and maintain requirements and design baselines, particularly where multiple customers are supported.
- Design and development of ground-based weapon systems would be desirable, particularly any experience in RF, Electro-Optical or communications systems.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Relevant Engineering or Science based Degree (or equivalent).
- Substantial, demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills.
- Sound understanding of a System Engineering process (including System and Sub-System Specification, System Test and Integration).
- Experience of System Modelling using SysML (& UML) preferably using Rhapsody.
- Knowledge of tools for Requirements Capture and Control (DOORS) and Configuration Management (Dimensions).
- Knowledge and experience of military communication systems and interoperability/battlespace integration.
