The Role:
The Microwave and Functional Materials Capability forms part of the Electronic Systems and Materials Theme within this organisations advanced Technology Centre. The role of Technology Centre within the department is to conduct research into new stealth material technologies. Typically this could cover a whole range of materials including composites, paints and high temperature materials. A microwave scientist or engineer is required to join the Stealth Technology Group to support the development of new and emerging technologies for utilisation in stealth materials. The vacancy is at the Towcester.
Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to a variety of activities to support the development of new technologies to help grow the current product base.
Likely tasks include:
-Undertaking simulations of both components and materials to assess their radar absorbing capabilities, and providing design guidance for such.
-Carrying out microwave measurements of materials and components.
-Preparation of technical reports, test procedures and other associated product documentation.
-Liaison with both internal and external customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
-Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
-Possess an understanding of electromagnetic theory and principles.
-Some electromagnetic simulation experience is desirable.
-Microwave measurement experience would also be desirable.
-Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Ability to use Microsoft office, particularly a good working knowledge of Excel.
-Membership of a recognised technical institute would be advantageous.
