Job Description:

The Control Center Operator  will work together with the existing Control Center team.

Control Center Operator

Ensure optimum availability of ICT infrastructure in accordance with the Service Level Agreements by monitoring, support and control of the overall processes of systems and services in a complex environment with multiple platforms.

The role is non-exhaustively as follows:

Operations and Infrastructure Management

  • The team run and insure appropriate operation, in conformity with (technical) instructions and guidelines, in order to guarantee the availability of the central ICT infrastructure, quickly and smoothly following production processes under the Service Level Agreements.
  • Monitoring and following-up all systems and services provided, by any monitoring tools available.
  • Identify and analyse deviations and take corrective measures to reduce effects of disturbances to a minimum.
  • Monitoring the performance of systems and networks and where necessary take appropriate adjustments .
  • Input/output tasks to ensure a smooth production process.
  • Activities associated with automated system to perform manual actions to automate and thereby reduce human error and increase availability.
  • Perform testing of reliability of services (ie paging schemes, stand-by procedures and exercises) to reduce the unavailability during major incidents or disasters.

Operations management applications

  • Monitor and optimize production in a complex environment with multiple platforms, in accordance with (technical) instructions and guidelines, to create a reliable (accurate, complete and timely) batch and online processing in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Prepare and supervise the work to be performed, including activation of daily production settings, generate checklists, checking libraries, etc.
  • Balancing the workload between systems by setting priorities to ensure optimal throughput
  • The batch and online processing end-to-end support and monitoring to ensure reliable processing.
  • Anticipating events to the consequences of failures, defects, errors, etc. during the production process to minimize and optimize the process by making use of alternative procedures and/or practices, backup systems, etc.
  • Ad hoc production processing applications that support batch and online processing.
  • Take structural measures for Job Restart/Recovery activities and implementation of workload management through the distribution of sources on the amount of work to be performed by the independent setting priorities to the batch and online processing optimization.

(Significant) incident identification and resolution

  • The normal operation of the department and restore the adverse impact on the ICT services according to Service Level Agreements restrict the availability and continuity of the system and application architectures to ensure the ICT services.
  • Identify and analyse disruption (reactive), making diagnosis, determining the severity, priority and impact.
  • Report faults or incident status closure ( solved ) and put the solution documentation so that the solution is recorded and secured.
  • Decide on appropriate action for the troubleshooting and repairing the actions listed in the work instructions and procedures.
  • When necessary, escalate faults to Level 2.
  • Being part of disruption handling by various stakeholders (both internal and external parties at home and abroad) during complex disruption
  • Provide first line support to user (Limited Service Desk role) outside office hours.

Documentation

  • Evaluate, establish and maintain documentation in accordance with standards and guidelines for the IT department to recurring events in a uniform way to handle (ensuring knowledge) or to gain insight in technical processes.
  • The operating instructions, procedures and checklist to evaluate the validity check.
  • Operating Instructions, flowcharts and checklists to determine, establish and maintain.
  • Provision of documentation for internal use so that everyone can act accordingly.
  • The written language is English. 
  • All documents produced by Supplier resources as part of this scope will be in English. 
  • End-users supply information must be done in English and French or Dutch.
  • Meetings are conducted in Dutch/French/English depending on the preference or knowledge of the participants.

Key contacts

  • Daily contact with various departments in order to keep stakeholders informed of current issue status and escalating when appropriate.
  • Frequent contact with external suppliers requesting help to solve issue and keeping Front End ownership of problem solving.

Required experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience as Control Center Operator or equivalent
  • With the available monitoring systems
  • The end-to-end architecture of the business systems

Mainframe experience is mandatory

Omnibus/TEC, Job Scheduling (Control-M) Mainframe & Distributed, Business bridge, Mainview/Omegamon products

Optional: SMARTS (network monitoring)

Automation: CA-OPS/Tivoli System Automation

Incident/Change Mgt: HPOV (HPOpenView)
