Oracle Database Platform Engineer

The IT Shared Services Database team provides an Oracle Database Hosting and Database Administration service around the globe for all our clients' business units. The Oracle Database Platform Engineer will work in the Global Database Engineering Team to design and build solutions to improve, add value, or new capabilities to the database platform.

Responsibilities:

* Design and build standardized Oracle RDBMS platform solutions that can be leveraged globally. The initial assignment will require a thorough understanding of configuring and managing native database auditing. Other activities may involve areas such as software installation, database provisioning and customization, security configuration, backup and recovery, account management, and capacity management.

* Develop repeatable installation checklists and required operational documentation, such as knowledge articles, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.

* Plan and coordinate transition of solutions into Operations, which includes knowledge transfer and shadow or transition support.

* Provide Level 3 support resolution assistance for production incidents and problems, including root cause analysis and elimination. This includes coordination with Oracle technical support, and active participation with IT Operations and Engineering SWAT teams.

* Provide regular updates on project status to team managers and project leads.

Required Skills:

Development Tool(s) and Platform(s):

* Oracle 9i through 11g Enterprise Edition on the following platforms (Required)

o Redhat EL and SUSE Linux (x86)

o HPUX 11.23, 11.31 (Intel Itanium 64 bit)

o Windows 2003, 2008 (x86)

* Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) (Required)

* Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c (Preferred)

Technical:

* Experience managing current versions of Oracle RDBMS on enterprise server platforms required.

* Knowledge of computing environment ancillary tools, such as those used for administration, configuration, job scheduling, monitoring, utilization and capacity planning, auditing, and security is required.

Non-Technical:

* Excellent English verbal and written communication skills (Required)

* Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and team collaboration skills (Required)

* Experience developing GxP documentation for FDA regulated industries (Preferred)

* Experience developing processes and SOP documentation (Preferred).

* Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and function in a fast-paced work environment (Required)

Methodology and Certification:

* B.A. or B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or technical field or related business experience required.

* 5+ years Database Administration experience within a large-scale, global organization is required.

* Professional and or Oracle certifications are a plus.
