Storage And Backup Analyst: NETAPP, NSeries, EMC, Linux - Required by large corporate for 12 month contract.
GIS Storage Analyst is the technical interface working with all Server Support teams in identifying, troubleshooting and helping resolving major storage issues.
As part of the GIS Storage Expertise, this role is responsible for:
* Provided senior-level support on their Storage infrastructure
* Assist to implement system and software upgrades
* Develops and maintains all Storage Area Networks (SANs), NAS and Backup Area Networks (BANs). * Maintains the performance, integrity and security of SANs.
* Provided and assisted with problem determination and troubleshooting
* Report and escalate any outages, required escalations, interruptions or service failure or risks
* Performs storage provisioning for both Unix and Wintel environments.
* SAN monitoring, archive management, backup recovery, new functionality and module setup, testing and deployment
* Support an enterprise class data protection environment, including performing configuration and administration of the backup environment.
As an Expert, the responsibilities require to:
* Provided 3rd level support and on call support when required
* Performed yearly review of current infrastructure and made recommendations as needed.
* Worked with Admins and Vendors, helping them to understand the environment and requirements.
* Implementation of baseline changes, respond to change requests and incident reports, perform technical server evaluations and analysis, and troubleshooting/problem resolution for all supported Servers.
* Proficient in storage provisioning & administration with the following storage vendors hardware and storage software toolsets (EMC, IBM, NetApp).
* Experience with split mirror backups, such as Timefinder, Business Copy Manager and Flashcopy, including remote data replication.
The technical scope of the job includes:
* NETAPP and IBM NSeries storage provisioning and troubleshooting
* EMC storage FAST VP configuration
* IBM East Tier on IBM storage
* Thin Provisioning on all technologies
* Create LUNs on IBM DS8K, DS5K and XIVHardware Systems Analysis, Design, Recommendations
* Additional knowledge of Symantec Netbackup is a plus, including implementing VTLs (DataDomain or ProtecTier)
* Operating systems supported include Windows , Solaris, HPUX, IBM AIX and Linux (not exhaustive).
The functional scope of the job includes:
* Expertise, senior-level support, configuration, and administration
* Strong unix administration & Scripting background on heterogeneous unix platforms.
* Installs new storage software releases, storage hardware upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves storage software related problems.
* Monitors SAN Fabric and Storage Array configurations to ensure optimal performance and capacity levels for storage and switch ports.
EXPERIENCE:
* 6 years NETAPP and IBM NSeries storage provisioning and troubleshooting experience
* Wide range of systems infrastructure design and implementation experience, including Wintel, UNIX and Storage
* Experience in Operating systems supported include Windows , Solaris, HPUX, IBM AIX and Linux (not exhaustive).
* Monitor Storage Environment Performance.
* Working knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies including IP, Switches and Firewalls.
