Strategic Director required for 2 or 3 working days per week in Belfast for a Public sector client
The ideal candidate will have:
Has extensive experience of working at a strategic level (executive director or above) within local government in a large, complex and multi-disciplinary local authority, preferably with experience in the functions/service areas set out above;
Is educated to degree-level, preferably with a technical qualification in one of the functions/service areas set out above;
Has strong political skills with experience of recognising issues of political sensitivity, interfacing effectively with elected members on a range of critical issues and retaining a high degree of probity and integrity;
Can demonstrate strong leadership capability and a sound knowledge of current health and environmental services issues, particularly in relation to city leadership, community safety, community planning, good relations and strategic waste issues;
Possesses excellent strategic skills with the ability to demonstrate his/her contribution of influencing the strategic direction of the local authority, its corporate planning process and of delivering on thematic projects by ensuring effective cross-working across council services/departments etc;
Has a proven track record of change management and delivering new services/functions and building new teams, systems and performance measures;
Can demonstrate successful management of significant budgets including prioritizing and targeting resources;
Has experience of adopting multiple approaches to develop and manage complex partnerships with a wide range of external stakeholders to further health and well-being benefits on a city-wide basis.
