My client, a leading Manufacturer of Medical Devices in Northern IL, has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist, skilled in Chemistry and Engineering. This position is contract to hire, but will turn into a permanent role within 6 months. The hourly wage ranges from $25-30 per hour with a conversion salary of 55-75k.This department recently opened and is a growing business. As a result of this massive growth, this position was created. Due to the current growth of the company, the successful candidate will gain market leading technical skills and have the opportunity to move into manager or project manager positions.
As a Senior Research Scientist, you will plan workflow, develop and implement experimental plans, be able to contribute to publications and patents and contribute directly to new product development.
This role requires the following skills:
- Understands the design control process
- Able to organize and prioritize work without supervision and able to interpret a variety of instructions
- Capable of developing and implementing experimental plans
- Can thoughtfully execute experimental laboratory work
- Preset data with approved recommendations
- Ability to work with colleagues and multiple clients
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- B.S or M.S in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Chemical Engineering
- 1 to 5 years experience within a pharmaceutical or medical device company
- Previous experience with product development and transferring products to manufacturing
- Experience with chemistry (e.g. UV, IR, HPLC, etc.) and engineering test equipment (e.g. compression, fatigue, tensile, etc.)
These qualifications are not required but are preferred:
- Preparation and characterization of novel formulations
- Combination product experience
- Experience with infection prevention
- GMP experience/ training
