My client, an elite investment bank based in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking an internal auditor to work in their Operational Risk team. The job will be for an initial 4-6 month contract, with a strong view towards a permanent position. The role will pay $40 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Assess and define FI Front Office controls including the controls implemented as a result of strategic projects.
  • Identify and improve Level 1 controls whose execution falls under FI Front Office responsibility and ensure that these controls are properly executed
  • Perform or coordinate the execution of controls not delegated to FI Front Office and set up Front Office procedures if required
  • Upon request from FI senior management or following an assessment which highlights a risky situation or degradation in operational risk indicators, lead or participate in special missions to further investigate the issues and address them.
  • Develop and implement FI Front Office KPI/KRI and relevant dashboards by interacting with FI management.
  • Analyze controls results and report their effectiveness on a periodic basis including qualitative comments if necessary (dashboard and risk cartography) and coordinate the escalation process
  • Perform risk self assessment of the FI processes (in collaboration with FI Central OPC officers), select and document Potential Incidents (PI) and Control Plans as an output
  • Monitor and analyze historical incidents (HI) and related action plans (AP), and perform quality reviews.
  • Follow up implementation of Internal Audit, External Audit, and Regulators recommendations.
  • Contribute to the Permanent Control Reporting.


Skills & Qualifications
  • Risk Awareness and working knowledge of Operational Risk and Permanent Controls
  • Good general knowledge of Fixed Income products and processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Business objects knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to interact with staff and management at all level to succeed in the implementation of processes or to resolve incidents.
  • Intellectual curiosity to identify root causes of incidents and potential operational risks.
  • Ability to work as part of a global team but will also be expected to have a pro active role and to take initiatives to achieve objectives set by management.
  • Autonomous, structured approach and strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
