Description

A contract role has arisen within a tier 1 investment bank in Sheffield. The role holder will work within the Capital and ALM Deployment and Environment support team installing and upgrading 3rd party package software and building out and supporting the technical environments required to support the development, testing and implementation (Global and Regional) of the related projects.

The key responsibilities of this role
  • Where necessary work with Project Managers to plan environment build out (software installations, application set up) following delivery of hardware and middleware from middleware operation teams
  • Raise change requests and work with IT Operations teams to ensure environments are set up for software and application installs.
  • Undertake software installation and upgrades of 3rd party package tools - working with 3rd party vendors where necessary.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation for environment set up and software installation.
  • Support packages and environments through development and testing (CORE & Regional), providing timely, efficient resolution to problems.
  • Prepare environments and undertake production implementations of 3rd party package tools.
  • Work with IT colleagues in other parts of the Group to optimise the performance of the environments.
  • Work with IT Operations and 3rd party vendor teams to ensure that the technical infrastructure meets all Group standards for disaster recovery, redundancy, contingency, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and performance.
  • Reporting / escalation of risk issues to the appropriate management structure and/or governance body.


Key knowledge and experience needed for this role are to have a:
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT systems development / deployment and excellent knowledge of project lifecycle, tools and methodologies used
  • Strong and proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a successful virtual project team engagement
  • Highly self motivated and proactive
  • Ability to prioritise work and deliver to timescales
  • A good working knowledge of the distributed or server based system environment
  • Microsoft technology skills beneficial, but not essential.
  • Flexibility of working hours and location to support productivity across multiple regions and time zones.
  • AIX, Linux and DataStage familiarity
  • Windows SQL Server familiarity
  • Knowledge and experience with Basel2 and CoRep and liquidity reporting.
  • Experience of working with and installing 3rd Party packages.
