Principal EIA Consultant

Our client is recruiting for a Principal EIA Consultant to work within their environment and planning group, alongside members of the UK power team and business lines directors, to develop and implement the strategy for their power service offerings in the UK and beyond. This is a national client facing and technical role with a specific focus on:
  • Principal Consultant of planning (EIA) and permitting (compliance/PPC) projects for new power developments
  • Assisting local teams to maintain and grow our industrial client base
  • Winning and subsequent technical direction of planning (EIA) and permitting (compliance/PPC) type projects for new power developments
  • Support and deliver wider power offerings in CCS, CHP feasibility, climate change assessment and engineering design, developing opportunities for UK and US power colleagues to deliver
  • Provide senior technical input and direction to power-related proposals and projects and maintain and promote the high quality of existing services and help maximise the profitability of power work undertaken.
  • Develop new power clients, generate new proposal opportunities and new business through existing contacts and client meetings and secure follow on work and identify and generate additional commercial opportunities in the course of project work with existing clients as well as assisting in the mentoring, supervision and growth of the existing environmental and compliance teams.


Requirements
  • More than 8 years' experience in consultancy, engineering or environmental project delivery
  • Comfortable meeting clients and presenting company services, securing contracts and delivering planning (EIA) and permitting (compliance/PPC) projects to meet client expectations
  • Imparting skills and knowledge, and providing leadership and direction to staff within the E&P business
  • Understanding of the power sector, particularly thermal power (coal, oil, gas) - waste to energy and low carbon power generation experience would be an advantage
  • An understanding of UK planning/ permitting requirements for new power developments and appropriate contacts in at least one major UK-operating power company. We would also expect experience managing and directing complex projects.


This position is ideally based in Birmingham or Chesterfield, although other locations in the UK would be an option for the right candidate.
