I am currently looking for a contract quality engineer to work on an initial 3-6 month contract based in the North West.

Job Description

Role Title: Quality Engineer
Role Purpose: Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained, at optimum costs, in order to enhance internal and external quality performance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support productivity and continuous improvement activities
Carry out problem solving resolution and leadership using appropriate techniques
Interface to the customer base on quality issues
Attend customer bases as required
Practically support and run quality improvement teams
Ensure all scrapped and quarantined product is correctly controlled and reported
Support the APQP process
Use and update Control Plans and FMEA's as appropriate
Develop and improve measurement systems where required
Ensure that products and process meet quality requirements as efficiently as possible
Ensure local adherence to integrated management systems in line with site accreditation and legislation for Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety
Ensures the health, safety and welfare of self and others at all times
Any other reasonable tasks required by the company

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Role Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes
Qualifications or Functional Experience Essential
Good understanding and practice in using problem solving tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of measuring techniques as may be encountered in a manufacturing environment.
Min. of 3 years of quality engineering work experience required.
Involvement in complex, multi-task orientated projects.
Experience of volume manufacturing environment will be an advantage.

Desirable
Six Sigma Training Desirable
Auditing (External/Internal) experience desirable.
Practical experience of purchasing and commercial activities desirable.

System or Knowledge

Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
A working knowledge of automotive standards, e.g. TS16949:2009.
A Practical knowledge of automotive tools such as PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flows.
A good understanding of AIAG and AITF requirements and practices.
