My client a leading provider in the energy sector in Ireland has an urgent requirement for a Senior Project Manager with an engineering background.

The contract is 12 months in lenght and is likely to extend. The successful candidate will perform engineering and project management assignments required to meet key departmental objectives including the further investigation of a large scale offshore infrastructure project.

Job Description:

  • Establish and obtain authorisation of project charter and execution plans
  • Establish and manage project budget and schedule
  • Identify, analyse, manage, escalate (as necessary) and resolve risks and issues, recording lessons learned
  • Oversee project quality control and assurance
  • Coordinate with developing/contracting partners through joint project management office
  • Coordinate and review the work of contractors and consultants under standard and/or bespoke contracts

Using advanced project management techniques, coordinate a wide range of activities and inputs from other professionals including technical & engineering, environmental management, communications, public & stakeholder relations, vendor management, finance and procurement. Considered judgement based on analytical thought required. Problems may require an innovative approach.

  • Provide regular and ad hoc reports and presentations to internal stakeholders including project board, sponsor, steering committee, management, executive, company board, etc
  • Develop and implement plans for permit and consent applications including necessary stakeholder consultation
  • Working with relevant specialists, coordinate internal and external communications

Working to agreed targets and objectives contributing to the regulated targets of the organisation, meeting stakeholder needs and/or satisfying company requirements.

Collaborate with team members and other departments, including the Programme Management Office

Provide technical direction and assistance to team members & junior staff acting as a leader and team representative when required.

Represent company policy to external parties and stakeholders

Review internal procedure documentation to ensure accuracy

Review and introduce new tools and technologies; develop and implement procedures across teams where required.

Make decisions impacting the Grid Development department within the objectives and strategy guidelines of the organisation. Decisions may be outside of established procedures but within a policy framework.

Facilitate review, assessment and auditing by internal and external parties and put in place remedial or improvement measures as may be deemed necessary.

Job Essentials:

Profile
Typically 5 to 6 years relevant experience required. The role holder will have an engineering degree or equivalent and takes shared responsibility for their area of expertise within the section and delivers on the company strategic objectives.

  • Ability to lead and take responsibility for medium/large projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self motivation, enthusiasm and ability to understand to influence, where necessary, stakeholder requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Full drivers licence
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on report writing and an ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively.
  • Experience in working with bespoke processes and procedures
