Description

Data Management Analyst - Banking

Our client is a highly regarded, global investment bank. They are looking to hire an experienced Data Analyst as part of a major Global Standards compliance programme.

The key aim of the programme is to identify a new class risks previously unknown across the retail and corporate customer base globally (currently over 100 million customers and counterparties) as well as providing investigative capabilities second to none across diverse datasets (transactional and reference data).

In order to acheive this they need to deliver, initially, three massive computer clusters in three locations (others may follow), each one with over 1600 computer cores and over a petabyte of raw storage, deploy Middleware software which did not exist 3 years ago, deploy and integrate application software, develop sophisticated custom analytics and retrain their operations teams to overcome new operational challenges.

Purpose of the job

The current system counts with over regular 30 data feeds with circa 4000 data items. The new processes which will be created as part of the programme will augment the existing capability with a large number of additional feeds. These feeds will require more proactive management thus we require a Data Analyst.

- Profile all existing and new data feeds;
- Create quality metric rules that can be deployed in production for the purpose of providing regular monitoring of source feed data quality;
- Create a data dictionary/business repository of terms, accessible by all members of the team
- Design and implement a technical solution to document the current (excel based) interface specs (which will use the above data dictionary). The work may also involve creating some "graph-based" ETL.
- Liaise with the DML development team (in terms of interpreting data, interface specs);
- Liaise with source data teams with a view of assisting them to improve quality, etc.
- Liaise with business users and management, in various capacities - including, explaining the data, helping to use/interpret the data, etc.
