My client requires a Security Analyst to become a member of their Security Operations Centre (SOC), a team who deliver specific IT Security Services to a range of clients. The role is focused on delivering Intrusion Detection / Prevention services and assisting with Investigations as a result of escalated problems and security alerts from client security information & event management systems (SIEM).

Additional activities include periodic and ad-hoc host Vulnerability Assessments and Application security assessments. Security policy enforcement is also key, and is achieved through various assurance activities such as auditing Firewalls, and conducting privilege account reviews etc.

Main Purpose of Role
As a Security Analyst your main responsibilities will involve:
* Ensuring the integrity of client IT infrastructures
* Protecting the information systems residing upon them from external and internal attack / compromise
* Delivering Intrusion Detection / Prevention services and assisting with Investigations as a result of escalated problems and security alerts from client security information & event management systems (SIEM)
* Periodic and ad-hoc host Vulnerability Assessments and Application security assessments
* Security policy enforcement is also key, and is achieved through various assurance activities such as auditing Firewalls and conducting privilege account reviews

Key Responsibilities
As a Security Analyst your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Essential:
* Knowledge and experience in IT Network Security
* IP Networking
* Experience in the use of Intrusion Detection systems, management and responding to and the tuning of alerts
* Experience in conducting host vulnerability assessments
* Experience in the use of SIEM platforms, preferably Huntsman, RSA Envision, ArcSight.
* Unix & Windows NT / 2K Administration
Desirable:
* Experience in conducting application vulnerability assessments
* Vulnerability Awareness / Understanding
* HMG Security Standards and Processes
* Experience using tools such as Nessus, NMAP, Retina

Skills and Experience
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Service delivery mentality and experience.
Client engagement skills, time management, expectation management etc
Desirably you will also have commercial and ITIL awareness

UK Government Security Clearance is mandatory, if not already held it will need to be in place before the candidate can start.

The role will involve Shift Cover on a 24 x 7 basis via Committed Cover, with On-Call back-up. Additionally, in office extended presence is between 08:00 and 18:00.
