Startup Seeks Ruby Rails Developer with E-Commerce Experience (remote job)

The Gist
We're a stealth mode education startup in the Los Angeles area that is re-inventing the way institutions utilize technology. The founders and many of the employees at the company were instructors themselves at universities so we have an intimate knowledge of how desperately this area needs to be properly served. We set out to build a solution to this problem and have since received nothing but support and positive feedback from many large players in the industry.

We are looking for a strong Ruby on Rails web developer to join our small but talented web team and take lead on the financial and CRM aspects of our application. We are flexible on location and are open to a remote developer as long as you are a strong communicator and have experience working remotely.

What we're looking for
Let's get the bulleted lists out of the way first, shall we? Here are a few things that we need you to be good at:

Ruby 2, Rails 4, RSpec

Rails architecture, code organization, performance, and best practices

SQL (We use PostgreSQL)

Javascript (OO Javascript Experience preferred)

Understanding web application security issues and solutions

And these will score you some bonus points if you have some knowledge and experience of them:

JavaScript MVC frameworks (KnockoutJS specifically)

Amazon Web Services Stack (EC2, S3, Transcoder, etc)

E-commerce development

Third party payment processing platforms.

CRM integration or development

Object Oriented CSS/Bootstrap/SMACSS

Agile development

In addition, we'll likely get along really well if you:

Are very organized and detail oriented in your approach to code that handles sensitive information or calculations

Constantly reflect on code re-use and modularization (humor is not the only thing you like DRY)

Feel mildly ashamed when QA finds a hole you didn't think of (i.e. you test your own features before considering them "done")

Are a software engineering purist at heart, but a pragmatist in practice

Are passionate about educational technology

What you'll be doing
Although there are many moving parts to what we are trying to accomplish, our flagship product runs as a Ruby on Rails web application that makes heavy use of Amazon's cloud hosting and services environment. We have made great progress so far towards our goals, but are looking for an additional developer to help us round out the application and get it ready for launch. The web team itself is currently only a handful of people, so you'd be coming in near the ground floor with a chance to contribute ideas as much as code. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to evolve into a leadership role as the team grows.
