Will be responsible for the continual development and effective implementation of comprehensive and robust systems and processes for the protection of vulnerable adults and children, working with partner agencies in line with national standards and legislation.

Will provide leadership to the safeguarding teams work streams to improve quality of safeguarding practice across the Trust.

The post holder will :
  • Provide leadership and co-ordinate the delivery of Trust-wide Safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring that appropriate support, supervision and risk management processes are in place to enable safe, efficient, effective and timely management of the Safeguarding agenda.
  • Be responsible for the interpretation of statute and national, regional and local policy, and for leading the development, implementation and monitoring of Trust safeguarding strategy, policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to influence pathways of care to safeguard vulnerable people and will ensure that evidenced-based practice and guidance is provided to staff managing safeguarding cases.
  • Work with the Local Safeguarding Children's Board's (LSCB), Adult Safeguarding Board's (SAB) Trust's Named Professionals, Professional Practice leads, Service Managers to develop safeguarding practice, procedures and guidance.
  • Deputise as the Trust's representative on the Local Safeguarding Children's Board and the Local Safeguarding Adults Board; represent the Trust on the Executive Groups and Serious Case Review sub-groups.
  • Ensure adequate representation of the Trust on serious case review panels, or domestic homicide review panels commissioned through local or neighbouring authority's Local Safeguarding Children's Board or Safe Adult Board. Ensure that LPT IMR's demonstrate a robust investigation into the case identified and the Trust's identifies all appropriate learning to improve practice. Ensure that the quality of the IMR report's meet all required board standards.
  • Advise the Executive Lead and Trust Board on the organisations responsibilities around safeguarding; to ensure that safeguarding is adequately resourced and meets national standards within Working Together 2013; e.g. named professionals should be able to have direct 0.contact with Executive lead to raise concerns; named professional receive adequate supervision and have access to specialist training to support the safeguarding delivery across the Trust.
  • This role requires the post holder to work using their own initiative, and work without direct supervision, managing their own time and developing work programmes which are guided by general NHS policies but require translation by the policy holder for implementation Trust wide.
