Description

Mechanical Systems Engineer required to achieve the delivery of mechanical architecture activities to time, cost, quality and performance requirements.

Typical activities will include:
Responsible for capturing critical parameters within the TRS, ensuring the mechanical architecture and interfaces meet the TRS requirements or Airframe TRS as it exists.
Responsible for supporting the optimum mechanical architecture for all variants, ensuring the mechanical architecture and interfaces meet requirements.
Responsible for establishing or updating the Technical Requirement and Interface Defining Specifications for a sub-system.
Responsible for ensuring Safety Officer approval of the missile safety design (Mechanical Configuration = specific area of expertise)
Produce regular reports to Project/Functional Managers on the Programme status, achievements, opportunities and challenges.
Implementation of GMA Policies to ensure Modularity & Reuse objectives are achieved.
Responsible for producing Statements of Work and programmes for the activities within their sphere of responsibility.
Technically manage internal & external suppliers for the delivery of sub-system work packages to time, cost, quality and performance requirements.
To interface with and manage customer expectations throughout the development phase.
Responsible for controlling assigned budgets, managing personal workload and identifying any further resource needs.
Responsible for direct technical supervision of engineers within their team and indirect management of engineers in the extended project team.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Understanding of the broader engineering disciplines, including:
Systems design or Safety systems.
Ability to technically manage internal & sub-contract activities.
Ability to influence senior managers and other stakeholders across the company.
Good leadership skills, able to establish a clear engineering vision.
Determination & desire to succeed.
Good interpersonal and highly developed communication skills.
Willingness to travel within UK and Europe when required.
Sound experience of Mechanical engineering, including:
Static & Dynamic Analysis.
Design for Environment.
Thermal Management.
Material properties.
Tolerance studies.
Configuration Control.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting procedure.
