Description
The payroll specialist is responsible for coordinating the weekly payroll 470+ Hourly employees. The Payroll Specialist may also participate in developing and analysing of various financial data for the facility.Primary Responsibilities
- Payroll processing, to include investigation, correction of errors and training
- Generation and analysis of payroll reports, including Pension, Perfect Attendance Bonus, etc.
- Plant reporting: volume reconciliation, output & payroll
- Prepare daily reports for Bakery managers
- Analyze SAP results to ensure accuracy of labor and material reporting
- Research AP aging items and follow up accounts payable issues with vendors/shared services
- Ability to utilize various systems; including, but not limited to SAP, LIS, Smartkart, I-PaySmart
- Assist with coordination of monthly close process.
- Prepare and key journal entries as needed.
- Evaluate general ledger accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.
- Research discrepancies and provide resolutions in timely manner.
- Responsible for various account reconciliations.
- Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance within span of control
- Ability to create, modify, and ensure accuracy of spreadsheets
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller
Requirements:
- Should be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must be able to handle spread sheet and analytic tasks as well as handle confidential information.
- Must be proficient in time management and organizational skills.
Prior payroll experience required, Highly preferred that the experience is in an industrial manufacturing environment - Experience with intermediate level accounting
- Minimum 1-3 years previous accounting experience
- Minimum 1-3 years experience processing payroll using SAP
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Solid understanding of General Accounting principles
- Ability to learn and understand payroll practices and obligations to ensure compliance with Union agreements
- Ability to learn and utilize internal software systems proficiently
- Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Accounting Degree, Associates or Bachelor
