My client is looking for a Design Engineer to join on a 3-6 month contractor.Position: Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm (One hour for lunch) ~ High workload periods may require additional hours
Responsible to: Design / Product Development Manager
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and development support of new and existing projects
* 3D model creation, 2D assembly drawings, 2d detail drawings & BOM's.
* Support with the production of technical documents / reports (Utilising simulation software where applicable) : FEA
* Support with design of test units and tooling with recorded documentation when required
* Support with CAD system data storage organisation & filing (PDM Vault)
* Assisting with any other reasonable project design & documentation as requested by the design team
Requirements:
* A precision mechanical engineering background in product design / jigs / fixtures / tooling.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in an Engineering Design environment or similar role (Solidworks 3D with FEA knowledge)
* Ability to create, read and interpret detailed engineering drawings (Assembly, Detail & BOM)
* High standards, good attention to detail.
* Proactive with a good level of initiative and verbal / written communication
* Able to work with minimum supervision to given deadlines
* Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, powerpoint
Advantageous:
* Knowledge of materials, Valves, Couplings & Seal Technologies
* 5 ~ 10 years experience in an Engineering Design environment or similar role
