We are currently looking for a talented Unix Administrator/Engineer to work with one of our prestigious clients.

Overall job Purpose

To provide support and further the development for the client's Redhat systems with the emphasis on virtualization, hosting Oracle datababes, and build and configuration management tools.

Key Responsibilities and deliverables


  • To help deliver the processes, tools and documentation for the delivery of RedHat virtual machines and Vmware, RHEV or oracle virtualization.


  • To help provide optimally designed RedHat VMs and storage architecture for Oracle Enterprise databases being migrated from large Unix platforms.


  • To help design the achitecture, build, configuration management, backup, cloning and snapshot strategies.


  • Support and administration of the RedHat ES Linux servers.


  • Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolution of IT related incidents.


  • Support other IT groups to deliver projects to meet the IT departments objectives.


  • Production and maintenance of user documentation to ensure that the Unix platforms can be appropriately supported.


  • Undertake tasks as directed by management.


Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications


  • Strong RedHat Linux knowledge and a background in complex IT environments


  • Strong skills in virtualization, SAN/NAS storage, providing platforms for Oracle Enterprise databases, Unix services and shell scripting


  • Experience with constructing and supporting a RedHat infrastructure with automated build processes, patch updates, and Kerberos and NIS authentication and accounting


  • Working knowledge of Unix mainframe support - kernel and package updates


  • Skills and experience with performance analysis and troubleshooting IT related technologies such as Unix, storage and networking


  • Experience with security enhancements for systems and applications

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously


  • Experience in communicating effectively with various levels of management and personnel


  • Applicants should be willing to work flexible hours and to work occasionally on weekends.
