We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist for a contract position in Lawrenceville, GA.
Shifts:

7 Part time(32 hours per pay period) weekends (Sat and Sun) various shifts; 7-3:30,3-11, 11pm-7:30am
-
10 PRN various 8 hours shifts week days and week ends

1 PRN 12 hour shift 12am-12pm in Emergency Department
The Patient Access Specialist (PAS) receives patients, completes the registration process in various systems, obtains required consents, verifies insurance and obtains required insurance precertifications/authorizations, requests payments from patients, and explains the hospital's payment policies.
Skills:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Must have experience using keyboards with a high degree of accuracy (25 wpm minimum).

Must demonstrate proficiency with PC skills.

Must have a sense of responsibility, professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to customer service.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively.

Must have an aptitude for numeric and Alpha filing and reading and sequencing numbers.

Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) preferred.
Responsibilities:
-
Greets and introduces self to all patients and/or customers.
-
Patient Access Specialists register patients using Access Management and other systems specific to areas (RIS, EmStat, CIS, Papervision, etc.)

Requests deposits and/or co-payments including prompt payment discounts.

Each PAS must attend General Hospital Orientation, Revenue Management Division Orientation, and Patient Access training. Other training may be mandated by the associate's supervisor, manager, director and/or Patient Access Education Services.

Answers phone calls quickly and when appropriate routes call to appropriate areas.

Continuously uses and monitors tracking systems (PPL, EmStat) to facilitate and expedite patient flow.

Contacts physician offices as needed.

Attend and participate in meetings.

Each Patient Access Specialists must adhere to HIPAA regulations and policies when accessing Protected Health Information.

Must maintain knowledge of Cashiering functions when accepting payments.

Adhere to the Daily Deposit policy.

Must be able to operate all equipment in Patient Access areas which include but not limited to PC, copier, scanner, printers, and pneumatic tube system.

Must have knowledge of all forms used by Patient Access.

Reads Email daily.

Performs Medical Necessity process where appropriate.

May be expected to work at least one major holiday per year.

May be required to stay in the work area due to inclement weather, computer downtime, or until a replacement arrives.

Must be proficient in all Computer Downtime procedures.

Must be proficient in Disaster procedures/policies where appropriate.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
