A Bay Area healthcare provider is seeking a Network Systems engineer to join their team on a contract to hire basis. You will be a key member of the team, responsible for managing the corporate network systems, as well as the general health, maintenance, and upgrades of all network equipment and related platforms as required. You will also be identifying, evaluating, testing, and implementing new technologies related to the Corporate Network Systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide escalation support for all networks and associated systems.
  • Manage networking systems administration and maintenance of the Corporate / Data Center Network Infrastructure including:


o Cisco IOS based routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points

o Cisco NX-OS based data center switches including Unified Networking

o HP Virtual Connect Network and SAN equipment

o Palo Alto Network firewa

o Site to Site Wireless bridges (Proxim, SAF, Cisco)

o MPLS and Layer 2 full mesh networks

o IPSEC and SSL VPN solutions
  • Assist in managing VoIP systems administration and maintenance of the Corporate VoIP infrastructure including:


o Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9.1 and above
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, traffic capture, analysis, and solve network related issues as they occur.
  • Maintain a network addresses schema for the entire corporate network.
  • Configure routers, switches, and/or firewalls as necessary.
  • Make recommendations to management concerning network upgrades and new technologies.
  • Document all network maintenance, upgrades, and follow corporate change control guidelines.
  • Maintain a library of all configuration files for all network devices.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and order network equipment.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors at local and remote locations for network related items.
  • Evaluate remote sites and potential new sites to determine network requirements.
  • Implement industry best practices related to network security and ensure network security is always maintained.
  • Maintain corporate network documentation, media and infrastructure.
  • Manage relationships and connectivity with 3rd party, and telecom vendors.
  • Coordinate with all IT Staff to resolve network problems, and act as Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for network related issues.
  • Provide rotating, on-call standby service nights and weekends.


NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Train other IT staff members on technologies related to VoIP
  • Operate spreadsheet programs and other software to load and manipulate data
  • Travel to the offsite data center in order to directly support the VoIP systems
  • Create and track VoIP-related tickets in the Helpdesk ticketing system
  • Meet requirements for established Service Level Agreement (SLA)


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a network administrator or engineer in a corporate production environment.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting and solving complex networking and internet-working problems.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing LAN/WAN topologies desired.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of writing proposals or papers; ability to communicate well with management, users and vendors, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of LAN and WAN technologies, protocols and internet-working principles.
  • In depth understanding, working knowledge, and experience in:


o Network routing and switching protocols including BGP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, RIP

o QoS / CoS concepts

o Firewall rules and concepts including NAT, security, and filter policies

o VPN solutions using IPSEC, and SSL

o Security authentication using 802.11x, radius, AAA, TACACS, port security, and snooping, wire-shark

o Monitoring with SNMP v1-3, Netflow, and related solutions.
  • Ability to travel out of the area on business. (<= 40% of the job)
  • Reliable transportation, valid state driver's license, good driving record


OPTIONAL:
  • Work experience in a non-profit environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of the following is a plus - Microsoft MCSE, Unix/Linux experience
