Estimator - Contract - South Dorset
Our Client, a large aerospace engineering organisation, are looking for an Estimator to be based in South Dorset.
You may have started your career as an Engineer or Buyer and have moved into Estimating but this is not a Buyer role.
You will be working with sensitive data and as such you should be willing to undergo BPSS (Baseline) & Disclosure Scotland Security Vetting before being able to commence the contract.
Key responsibilities:
- You will work closely with the Bid, Commercial and Operational teams and play a key part in winning contracts through the consideration and experience of intelligent and accurate pricing.
- When new requirements come in (or there is a change to existing programmes) the individual will be required to provide estimates from the business (this could be for Services, Labour or Materials)
- They will be responsible for the Cradle to Grave approach for all estimates and the Estimator will need to have a solid Engineering background as the comprehension of engineering drawings will be a part of the role.
- Ensure that the estimates are provided in a timely manner compatible with the proposal bidding schedule.
- Ensuring contracts entered into are well understood regarding cost build up and selling price. Proposals represent an appropriate balance of risk and reward for the business.
- Estimates are recorded and tracked on Excel (The Client has developed a bespoke software application in Excel).
Skills/Experience:
- Proven experience as an Estimator (Circa 5 years+)
- Solid Engineering background (Aerospace, Defence or Oil & Gas).
- Proven success in costing/pricing/tendering for Original Equipment activities.
- Proven relevant experience gained in a commercial discipline in a high tech industry, ideally within the aerospace/defence sector
- Knowledge of the estimating process is a prerequisite for this role
- Experience of MoD and US DoD and export contracting is ideal
- Previous experience with costing between £100K > £1M
