Title: Lead Engineer - R&D

Contract length: 18 months rolling contract

Location: Peterborough

A Lead Engineer is required to work for leading heavy off road vehicle design and Development Company. This is a long term contract opportunity based on site at Peterborough; your initial contract will be 18 months long with the opportunity for multiple extensions due to lengthy project life cycle of 3-4 years. You will be working within an R&D team tasked with the development of energy efficiency enhancements of articulated trucks and other heavy machinery. This will involve the complete documentation of machine, systems and component requirements and specifications. Collaboration with the FMEA coordinator will be necessary to help facilitate the FMEA procedures. Close collaboration with 3rd party partners such as ETI (Energy Technologies Institute) will also be required due to the key involvement in the project by these partners.

The Lead Engineer will be expected to provide project coordination and management to a major part of the programme or potentially and entire subproject.

You will also be very familiar will at least on major machine subsystem and quickly develop understanding of all machine systems and their integration.

Key skills:

* Bachelors' degree in an Engineering discipline with 9-12 years' experience.
* Or a Masters' degree in an Engineering Discipline with 6-8 years' experience.
* Ability to communicate in an effect and technical manner with colleagues, as well as with suppliers, customers and other partners.
* Ability to perform complex assignments.
* Good FMEA and APQP skills.
