Senior Management Accountant - Accounting, Rail, Financial Control, Oracle, Hyperion

Contract. Milton Keynes. 4 months. £325-£375 per day. Need Rail/Construction industy experience!

One of our leading rail industry clients has an urgent requirement for a Senior Management Accountant to manage the provision of a customer focused management accounting service to support the business in decision making, delivery of targets and maintain financial control.

Scope of Project Assignment/Assignment

  • Manage the preparation of consolidated management accounts and review the financial performance of business areas to support the management of risks/opportunities. Manage the content and distribution of management information reports.
  • Manage the production of meaningful analysis of the cost base to support business areas in understanding financial performance, finding efficiencies and delivery of objectives (including budgets and forecasts).
  • Manage investment/project accounting services as required by the business areas including consolidation.
  • Promulgate awareness of financial and corporate governance standards by analysis of information from core systems.
  • Maintain technical standards of accounting in accordance with statutory, regulatory HMRC, and group policy and regulations and maintain appropriate controls to enable compliance with the company's commercial policies and procedures.
  • Review and manage the consolidation and preparation of forecasts and budgets as required including the identification of risks, opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Manage and support best practise sharing, standardisation and continuous improvement of end to end processes within the centralised management accounting team.
  • Actively contribute towards the development of finance within the business areas. Promote a customer focused vision and engage with business area finance teams.
  • Support the development of the centralised management accounting team strategy as required, to deliver a comprehensive management accounting service to the business areas.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Knowledge of current accounting standards.
  • High level of understanding of financial systems and policies within the company
  • Student/part membership (or equivalent) of the relevant professional body having progressed beyond the fist stage of qualification, or possession of sufficient experience to fulfil the requirements of the role without membership to the relevant professional body.
  • High level numerical skills and ability to interpret data quickly
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside of the business
  • Can demonstrate innovative thinking in taking actions to improve performance and problem solving.

Desirable

  • Experience within finance disciplines of organisations
  • Railway/Construction industry knowledge
  • Experience of oracle based systems including projects and hyperion
  • React swiftly to customer requests and ability to proactively resolve issues to help delivery CP5 Project Accounting preparation.
