Description

A global leader in health insurance is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join their team and apply their technical expertise across multiple disciplines, as well as act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent. A successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art programming languages and object-oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing, and debugging programs. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the direction of a renowned business and work with cutting-edge technologies.

This is a 6+ month contract position, with a rate starting at $90/hour (negotiable depending on experience).

Responsibilities
  • Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business.
  • Develop enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
  • Use a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications to customers
  • Provide expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business
  • Determine specifications, then plan, design, and develop the most complex and business critical software solutions, while utilizing appropriate software engineering processes; either individually or in concert with project team
  • Take initiative to solve complex problems; takes an outside in perspective to identify innovative solutions
  • May lead functional teams or projects


Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
  • 7 years of experience in multiple IT areas including: Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, IBM MQ Series, Web Services
  • 3 years of relevant architecture experience
  • Requires advanced to expert level knowledge and understanding of architecture, application systems design and integration
  • Ability to interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • "Blue stack" (IBM), (WAS/ILOG JRules/DB2/BuildForge) is a plus
