Job Description: 

My client is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join their team in Dublin as a Red Hat Systems Administrator as soon as possible.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Support a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment 99.999 levels of availability
  • Responsible for maintaining DR, System refreshes, backups and restores (EMC Networker)
  • Applying RHEL Patch updates
  • Proficient managing and Operating Clusters (preferably VCS)
  • Incident and problem resolution, maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction possible
  • Skills/Knowledge Transfer
  • Document Best practices for RHEL operational tasks
  • Preventative maintenance tasks to ensure IT systems are operational and secure and to prevent future incidents
  • Batch monitoring and recovery of failures with a view to improving the system/batch performance
  • Change request (CR) impact and prioritisation through to implementation
  • Delivery of ad hoc unplanned changes
  • Customer communications

Experience Required:

Nominated resources would need to have the following experience:

  • Relevant degree
  • 5 year experience with minimum RHEL System Administrator certification (V5 or V6) or preferably RHCE (V5 or V6)
  • Excellent remedial troubleshooting capabilities in an Enterprise Compute environment and be proactive when faced with a challenge
  • Strong understanding of VMware V5 environments
  • Strong understanding of with TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, LVM
  • Experience working with SAN fabrics and Storage Arrays (preferably 3PAR)
  • Excellent process methodology
  • Proficient with X86 hardware
  • Relevant experience Managing backups/restores of VMware & RHEL systems using EMC Networker
  • Excellent Shell Scripting capability
