Duties and Responsibilities:

Continually review QA systems and procedures to meet current and future internal requirements, as well as national and international quality, health, safety & environmental (QHSE) standards.
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout Houlder Ltd
  • Performing internal and external / supplier audits and managing non-conformances
  • supporting / supervising technical staff in carrying out internal or external compliance audits, often in harsh environments
  • Ensure procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product are investigated if necessary
  • Maintaining a constant awareness of the business context and company profitability
  • Bringing together employees of different disciplines and driving the group to formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures
  • Analysing technical and performance data against defined parameters for measuring QA achievement.
  • Implementing and supporting the implementation of continuous improvement of processes, product or services and assisting with new product development process across Houlder


Documentation
  • Review, rewrite and define quality procedures in conjunction with relevant standards and operating staff
  • setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures
  • Produce and review the QA management system reports
  • Support project in the production of QA documentation packages in line with customer requirements.


Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • Educated to HNCHND or Diploma level in Quality Assurance or similar discipline
  • Significant demonstrable experience in the engineering sector ideally in the oil/gas/marine/renewables or defence industries particularly in the design phase.
  • Ideally Member of the Chartered Quality Institute
  • Strong background in quality systems and procedures
  • Ideally will have experience of quality control plans within a technical/mechanical engineering environment, with the ability to read engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Advanced training and/or detailed experience in ISO 9001
  • Qualified Lead Auditor, several years' experience in a marine/offshore or engineering environment
  • Ability to produce relevant reports and presentations accurately and concisely
  • Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to assimilate and analyse information:
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working with a PDM, ERP or SharePoint system's would be an advantage
  • Full clean driving licence and must be prepared to travel nationwide (possibly overseas) frequently with occasional overnight stays.


  • Must be prepared to work occasionally in harsh site environments e.g. shipyards.
