Linux Support Engineer

Salary: 40 - 50k Per Annum

My Client is looking for a Linux Support Engineer with experience LINUX/ UNIX/ LAMP/ IPSEC/ Firewalls/ VOIP/ SIP/ Open Source/ SQL/ Helpdesk with Experience in the telecommunications industry

to work in a fast - paced environment. Linux/ Unix Administration is essential.

The role will be based in Berkshire.

Your key role will be to support, troubleshoot with relevant experience in the following essential skills:
  • VoIP (specifically SIP in an open source environment: SER; OpenSER; OpenSIPS; Kamailio; Asterisk; Callweaver; FreePBX; Yate)
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Linux to install and operate a text mode Linux (or BSD, or Solaris) system.
  • SIP
  • Layer 2 & 3 switches (including VLAN)
  • Server hardware (Dell is desirable)
  • IPSEC
  • Network monitoring
  • Linux/ Unix (Red Hat, Fedora or CentOS is desirable)
  • LAMP
  • Helpdesk


Knowledge and experience of the following products is desirable:
  • Websense web, mail and DLP products
  • MYSQL
  • firewalls
  • Citrix Xenapp or Metaframe Presentation Server
  • VMWare ESX and ESXi


Additionally and when required, it is expected that all applicants are able to perform physical tasks such as moving PCs and servers and laying or patching cables.
