Position: Environment Manager - Operational Test Environment
Location: Edinburgh or Halifax
Contract duration: 6 months+
Position overview
The Xceed Group has an immediate assignment for an experienced Environment Manager to work on an initial 6 months assignment with our client site in Edinburgh or Halifax offices.
The project is delivering an ongoing Operational Test Environment capability for the business. This will involve delivery of End to End infrastructure and Applications across various technologies.
This is a multi-million pound project and has involves dozens of resources (FTEs, Contractors and 3rd party suppliers), however the existing team working on this workstream is approximately 15 individuals. There are nearly 40 critical business processes.
Main responsibilities

To take ownership and management on a day to day basis of the non-production environments, data issues and escalations through to resolution

To understand the best practice and drive the QA activity across IT

Manage non-productive environment bookings

Resolve usage contention, resolving queries from the testers.Engage with project and programme to gather and sanity check all non-production environments and data requirements

Manage the provisioning of the non-production environments and data

Successful hand-over of non-production environments on time with agreed configuration

Manage stakeholder relationships with different businesses areas/going discussions with the
stakeholders, maintain those meetings.

Develop, measure and report KPI's around non-production environments

Technical 1st line support. - MF CICS, DB2, IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)

The ideal Environment Manager/Test Environment Manager/Practitioner will have:

Strong stakeholder management experience

Proven ability to triage non-production environments and analyse them

Proven experience managing 3rd party companies and vendors

Full understanding of the SDLC

Excellent communication skills
-
Strong organisation, planning and troubleshooting skills
Technical skills and knowledge in:
- IBM MF, CICS and DB2
- And/or IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
- Platform knowledge of Z-Series, P-Series, x86
