We create impactful digital experiences to help brands and startups grow their businesses. Our clients fall into four categories: B2B technology, consumer packaged goods, nonprofits, and startups.
We are seeking a talented and passionate WordPress Developer to join our team. This is for a long-term full-time position and ideally you can work from our NYC office but we’re open to remote work as well.
Required skills:
Expertise with HTML5/CSS3 coding in all browsersExperience with LESS/SASSKnowledge of JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, Backbone, Angular, NodeJS, etc)Expertise with mobile optimization/responsive codingExpertise with WordPress (see below)Keen interest in learning new languages and technologiesRespect of industry-accepted standards, specifications and best practicesKnowledge of SEO best practicesAbility to learn new development techniques as neededMySQL (noSQL and other relational/non-relational databases a plus)Working with and understanding the importance of CDNsCustom Google Analytics implementationsDevOps: understanding of Linux server, cluster structures and deploymentsAbility to implement optimization, scaling and caching techniquesUnderstanding of 3rd party API integration
Experience with GITA good sense of design and an eye for the detailsA positive attitude and love working with a teamExcellent written and verbal professional communication skillsThe ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with strict deadlinesHigh level of self-management and organizational skills
In addition, the WordPress developer should possess the following qualities:
Extensive knowledge of basic WordPress APIs including the Plugin, Options, Settings, Shortcode, Rewrite, and Database APIs.Ability to quickly research and utilize additional WordPress APIs as needed.Extensive knowledge of WordPress action and filter hooks, how to use them, and when they occur.Intermediate knowledge of general WordPress classes including WP_Query, WP_Post, and WP_ErrorWorking knowledge of the basic structure of a theme.Ability to write ajax or general requests to WordPress using the wp_ajax hook.Ability to properly enqueue scripts and styles.Familiarity with and the ability to implement or modify class-based themes and plugins.Architecture-minded approach to writing any methods that require data retrieval—the least amount of calls to the database, the better.Familiarity with the Advanced Custom Fields plugin and its APIs, and the foresight to know when and when not to use this plugin or others like it.
