I am nearing completion of a website on which I am using UserPro to create a directory of alumni from our school. UserPro looked like a great plugin for my wordpress 4.0 avada-themed site, but it seems to be broken in a number of ways. Given the lack of support from the developer, perhaps I should find something different, but I’d really like it to work cuz so I’m willing to give it a try to see if it’s fixable. I have lots of experience creating filemaker databases and coding with lasso, so I can sorta follow the php code and make tweaks, but not enough to fix the problems. I’m guessing they are simple fixes for anyone with skills.I’m looking for someone who is skilled in php and wordpress. The four issues I’m having are:
1. When a member goes to login, user pro spits back error messages that the username and email address etc are already taken, when in fact they are not. i do not understand how user pro interacts with the word pro database, so i can’t begin to figure out what’s wrong with this.
2. Userpro claims to allow for the making of custom fields and filtering the display of members by those fields, but none of the documentation for how to do that has succeeded in accomplishing that. Instead it’s stuck with filtering by fields that i’m not interested in filtering by. I know which lines of which file relate to this function, but can’t seem to figure out how to change it.
3. I have other forms on my site for potential students who are inquiring or applying to our program. The user pro alumni is for the alumni. But the user pro directory is displaying both the members who login through the user pro directory as well as everyone who fills in a form elsewhere on the website. In theory it should be easy to separate the two, but I don’t know enough php or understand the wordpress database enough to know how to change this.
4. I would like it if the breadcrumbs near the top of the page would list every page (register, login, edit profile, etc) as a subpage below the alumni display page rather than having all of them coming off the home page. that way users can always go back to the display page easily from wherever they are. if i try to adjust the page structure in wordpress it creates 404 errors, so it needs to be adjusted within the user pro php.
As a lasso developer, I know enough to know that these four issues are likely relatively simple fixes for a skilled programmer, but no amount of time on my end will resolve it and i’m not having any luck in php or user pro forums.
