The Lead Systems Engineer will own the technology engineering for Voice & Video technology and infrastructure. They are closely aligned with the voice and video service owner to understand requirements and champion the design of detailed engineering and a set of documented design templates. This role will also provide engineering standards for new voice infrastructure deployments that are delivered by the service and support organizations.
Major Areas of Accountability
Develop and lead overall IP telephony, voice and immersive video engineering designs and technical standards working with respective domain architects.
Must have strong technical skills supporting Cisco based networks and unified communications environments.
Develop process and procedures and guidelines for implementation of VOIP and Video technology.
Lead engineering infrastructure projects working with domain architects, portfolio project managers and other engineering teams as required.
Ensure overall design supports the execution of critical business applications and develop detailed engineering documentation and diagrams working with the implementation and operations teams.
Reconcile the client Voice and Video landscape and align it to set strategy, by defining overall infrastructure requirements.
Support domain architects with the vendor engagement to assess product offerings; provide detailed research, analyze and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations.
Partner with Internal technical service groups and business subject matter experts and program/project teams to build general understanding for voice and video technology for related business requirements and align them to the overall solution.
Act as the technology subject matter expert and provide consultation to programs/project teams and business subject matter experts to achieve successful implementation of voice and video technology.
Understand current and future infrastructure needs and provide capacity planning of voice and video technologies, strategy, and design changes to align with operational life cycle updates and changes.
Provide guidance/expertise related to overall voice and video technology and help troubleshoot critical business impacting issues or core infrastructure outages as a level 3 support partner and escalate up to level 4 with strategic vendor and domain architects.
Help lead voice and video infrastructure updates and changes working with domain architects, implementation and operations engineering teams.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:
Not directly responsible for the work of others, but will liaise with project teams, engineering teams and business subject matter experts to achieve results.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will provide input on expense related to capital projects within Voice and Video responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
4 year degree or equivalent work experience
6+ years technical experience related to network and VoIP engineering, working with Cisco voice gateways, Routers and Switches, TCP/IP, ISDN and IP video technologies, Cisco telephony systems, IP routing, DNS, WAN/LAN.
A self-motivated individual who is able to take ownership of and work concurrently on multiple initiatives.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Able to work with multiple technical and business groups in a large globally based organization.
Strong CISCO based VoIP, Video and related network and systems engineering experience with a variety of vendor solutions.
Proven ability to establish and develop relationships with all key stakeholders and subject matter experts to facilitate a truly collaborative approach across the enterprise, identify potential challenges and deliver solutions in support of business strategies.
Prefer prior experience in implementation of network services under VoIP and video technology and leading technology projects
Willing to work a flexible schedule to meet business requirements.
